Easter

Meagan was SOOOOO excited about her chocolate bunny. She got up while I was still in the shower and busted in there to ask me if I could check the label and see if she could have it! I thought that was so cute! So course, she loved it and ate on it for a few days! Well worth the $16!

I had to do some bribing with a jelly bean for Hunter to cooperate, but I really wanted to get a good picture of the three of them in their matching outfits!

Hunter had a great time hunting eggs - especially once he figured out there was stuff in them.

I figured I was due for a new post and since everyone else has posted about Easter, I guess I should, too. We were in Georgia for this year for Easter and it occurred to me later on that this was the first Easter my kids have spent with my parents ever. My Mom and Dad moved to GA the year before Avery was born and although we see each other several times a year it just never seems to happen in the Spring. We enjoyed a nice service at my parents' church and then headed up to my grandparents/uncle's house for lunch and and egg hunt. The weather was perfect and we had a great day together!

Story Time with Hunter

I finally decided that it was time to start taking Hunter to the library for story time like I used to do with the girls. Hunter has been there before, but not since Meagan started preschool in August of '08 and he was a much more "passive" participant back then. We go to the Villages library which is only about 10 mins from the house and the librarian is super nice. I thought it would be helpful in helping him learn new words and socializing him a little more, too. We've been about three times so far and while he's not super excited about it, he does listen to the stories, likes seeing the other kids and loves the snack time!

New Spring 'do!

The girls were so excited to get some new much shorter hair-do's yesterday after school. Both of their hair was the longest it had ever been and it was driving me crazy. While I kind of like being able to do cute hairstyles with them for the most part it was just ponytails every day. I much prefer the way they look with shorter hair and it's so much easier to take care of. Avery went first to set the example and Meagan was happy to have a haircut just like her big sister! I think they look super cute! The funniest thing was how excited they both were to go to school today to show off their new looks ~ I guess feeling good about yourself because you have a great hairstyle starts early!

We are having a great time with Avery playing softball this year. I won't lie, it's been more stress added in, but I have to tell myself that it's worth it for her to have so much fun and get some great exercise. There are just some things you learn playing team sports that I don't think you can learn anywhere else. Even though I totally stunk at playing softball when I was eleven or tweleve years old, the memories of the good times are still with me. Gus is the head coach and he is doing a great job, too! I love that he and Avery have something in common that they both enjoy. Hunter and Meagan have a great time going down to watch practices and games although I spend most of my time chasing after them rather than watching the game. I started taking pictures last night and I have plans to do something special for the team with them at the end of the season so hopefully that will work out! Go T & D Concrete!!

"God's shoes"

I just wanted to do a quick post to share something funny that Meagan said this morning. I was getting her ready for school and she insisted on wearing her favorite "new" pair of shoes (hand-me-downs from Addie!) They are really cute and comfy so I didn't mind her wearing them at all. Then she busted out and said "These are shoes like God wears!" Of course I started laughing and told her she was right. I'm sure she was referring to all of the pictures of Jesus and how he is portrayed wearing brown strappy sandals. I think God knew I needed a good laugh this morning after a stressful week!

The $16 chocolate bunny

So, my sister Lisa told me about a company called Divvies that specializes in allergy-free treats. I'm always in the market for that, so I got online last week and ordered Meagan her first ever chocolate Easter bunny to be the centerpiece of her Easter basket this year. I was so excited!! Now, I am used to paying primo prices for all of Meagan's food, etc. but this one is probably the most expensive yet. The bunny itself cost $8.50 and the shipping was $7.50 for a grand total of........$16!!!! (okay, I know I gave it away by the title, but I wanted a little dramatic effect here!) I am not complaining at all - I am just glad that there's somebody in this world that cares enough to make an allergy free chocolate bunny, ya know?!! Because of Meagan's allergies, when it comes to Easter baskets, I usually have maybe only like 25% candy and the rest is toys, etc which is better for all of my kids anyway, right? I took the picture next to a regular size coffee cup to give a reference point to the size of the bunny. Can't wait for Meagan to enjoy it!!

Life after Facebook

So I know I haven't posted on my blog in like over two weeks or so, but I have found something even more fun to do on my computer and that is FACEBOOK!! My sisters have been after me for a while to join and I finally did and I love it. I have reconnected with some old friends from high school and college and am able to keep in touch with some coworkers through the week. So, my blog might suffer some, but you can find me on Facebook!
We have been busy with Avery's softball season which is going great. Gus is the head coach and it's keeping us busy, but it is something Gus and Avery can do together an it's great exercise. First official game is next Monday - go T & D Concrete!!
The other thing that's going on is that I am taking Meagan to a new allergy doctor in Lake Mary. I won't go into major detail just yet, but we are in the process of having her retested for her food and environmental allergens and we may be trying a new treatment for her. I'll keep you posted as more develops. Please say a prayer that we can get a blood sample from her - they have stuck her FIVE times at the office and no luck. They want to do it there because they send the blood to an out of state lab, so we're trying to figure out a solution. Meagan was a brave little girl and she got a new baby doll from Target after such a rough morning. Thanks Aunt Lisa for being there for moral support!
